5tcbFM, Limestone Coast Radio, making you…”Part of the Family” Strategic ObjectiveTatiara Community Broadcasters Inc., is a not for profit community owned incorporated association which operates 5tcbFM - a volunteer based community radio station and audacity – a multimedia recording facility in the Limestone Coast of South Australia. Its vision is to be the principal daily media in the service area, encouraging economic development and regional leadership through positive, informative programming. 5tcb will, by December 31st 2010, establish the Tatiara district as the pre-eminent centre for information technology and media education in country South Australia. Company success will depend on increased subscriptions, an enhanced listener base, planned fundraising with major events, increased radio sponsorship and recording activity. Based in Bordertown, and already the number one radio station in the Tatiara district, 5tcb’s broadcast is repeated into surrounding towns Keith, Naracoorte and Padthaway with a local signal and will extend further into Kingston and Robe communities by December 31st 2006. Measured listening share will achieve a majority in all communities by 30th Sept. 2010. This larger market will cement the station’s sustainability by increasing income from business sponsorship and the number of volunteers, listeners and subscribers. 5tcbFM exists to provide information, entertainment and a forum for discussion for listeners; an affordable and effective medium for promotion of local business and community events, and a resource for the education and training of people of all ages in media and IT for hobby or career. This will be achieved by employing leading training methods for committed, professional staff and volunteers who broadcast an interesting program with broad appeal containing local content and produced in suitable quality accommodation with professional equipment. Radio success will be built on the back of great content, personal service and value pricing ensuring sponsors benefit from increased profitability through radio promotion. 5tcb will sustain a strong client base built on a strong brand – “Part of the Family”. Other objectives include building a volunteer workforce of 75 people by December 2007 supported by a small core of full time staff, and an expanded recording facility by 2020. ‘audacity’ multimedia recording studios facility offers a unique combination of on-line learning for budding IT students, and CD/DVD recording for local musicians, together with the ability to facilitate airplay of their music on community radio stations around Australia. It has great potential as a community resource and will make Bordertown the recording/online learning capital of the Limestone Coast by January 2012. The business will form partnerships with local secondary and post secondary education institutions to ensure an ongoing stream of staff and volunteers learning while contributing to the objective.
